Hogan’s Heroes
Okay, so it’s not Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers… it isn’t the most realistic view on World War II… but it sure is funny. Hogan’s Heroes is a great comedy set in a World War II prison camp. Normally there wouldn’t be too much humor associated with a prison camp, but Stalag 13 is different.
Colonel Hogan commands a mixed group of cunning prisoners who blow up local targets and smuggle people and things out of Germany through their network of many tunnels and other escape routes. They are helped by a German sergeant and Camp Comandant that are so afraid of failure and being shipped to the Russian front that they most of the time unknowingly allow these allied prisoners to do whatever they please.
If you can catch the reruns on TV or see them via download or DVD, it’s well worth the time investment. Very very funny.
