Just finished this one earlier tonight.
Matt Damon heads a fabulous cast in The Good Shepherd, a story surrounding the creation of the CIA. This one comes in at a little shy of three hours, which is quite long by today’s Hollywood standards, but in this case it is just long enough to tell the story well. The actors all handle their material well. Some would say that the story develops rather slowly, I would say it develops methodically. Methodically, being a good way to start a film in my opinion.
To be honest I am a sucker for political, historical, and biographical (even if the biography is of a fictional person) flicks… and this fits the bill on all three accounts. Plot intertwining with history, it is truly an enjoyable watch.
Highly recommended.
