I recently posted about how I hate giving gift cards as gifts to people as it didn’t really show that I put a lot of thought into their gifts.  I have an exception to the rule:

Many perfectly able bodied adults continue to live with their parents into their 20’s and 30’s… sometimes even longer.  Some of these people are truly in need and are doing the best they can to not only improve their life, but to also not impact their parents’ lives in a negative way.  Then there are the others… the moochers.  The ones who don’t offer to give their parents any money for utilities, rent, food, or what not.  Those are the ones I’m talking about here.

Here is my fool proof gift card giving idea for these moochers who are taking advantage of their parents.   Buy them gift cards as gifts.  Gift cards?  How does this help?  It’s where you buy the gift cards for.  Buy them gift cards for places that the parents money usually goes.  The best way to do this is through the purchase of food.  Most grocery stores these days offer gift cards for sale.  If  you buy the moochers a grocery store gift card, any food they buy with it whether used by just them or shared with the entire household, is food that the parents don’t have to buy.  You get credit as giving a gift to the moocher… but the present is really for the parents.
