When it comes to sports, nothing gets fans going more than rumors. Well, in the case of the rumors about a prospective rematch to one of the most popular, and most financially rewardable, fights in history, the rumors appear to be true. That’s right, it looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya will be fighting again. When it is finally announced, Mayweather vs De La Hoya tickets are going to be some of the hardest and most sought after tickets to get this year in boxing.

Negotiations have been going on for quite some time to bring this rematch to the public, but something has happened recently that make it look like a certainty. Oscar De La Hoya has recently backed off of his plans for a fight in May of this year, speculation is that he would only cancel plans for a fight if this bigger fight was going to be a reality. With the first fight between these two breaking most PPV records last year, you have to think that both fighters were going to try and make it happen again. And it looks like they did it.

The specifics of the fight have not been set yet as the negotiations between the two fighters’ camps are not done yet. So far, the location looks like it could be back in Las Vegas like the first fight or also could be somewhere in Los Angeles, De La Hoya’s hometown. As far as dates for the fight to happen, it appears that Sept. 13 adn Sept. 20 are being held open at a number of venues and if it does happen it will be broadcast on HBO pay-per-view.

Wherever and whenever the fight does take place, boxing enthusiasts will be lining up for tickets and calling their local pay-per-view providers. The first time these two boxers fought, it ended in a split decision and De La Hoya lost his title.

One of my favorite reality shows is Top Chef on the Bravo network. I think the reason I like it is because it isn’t all about alliances and strategy, it is about the cooking. If you can cook and you excel at cooking creatively and under high pressure, then you succeed.

If you’re like me, you’re a big fan of Reality TV. Now, I didn’t always like reality shows and I don’t like them all. My favorites tend to be centered around competition and creativity. My favorite reality shows as far as competitions go are Project Runway, Top Chef, and The Amazing Race. I also like Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest Catch, and Little People Big World.

As far as what reality shows I don’t like… that’s easy: The Girls Next Door, that Kardashian trash, and Bad Girls or whatever that show is. I do have a weakness for a couple of bubble gum shows, Rock of Love and that Danny Bonnaduce I Know My Child Is A Star… those two train shows are just train wrecks, but fun train wrecks.

There is much being made today of the proposed gas tax holiday. This is supported by Senators John McCain and Hillary Clinton as well as a number of other people in Washington D.C. Barack Obama does not support it and calls it pandering. I think he’s right, but sometimes politically, pandering works. It is true that based on your lifestyle and driving habits, the gas tax holiday will probably amount to a savings of about $40 - $100 over the course of the summer. Not really enough to make a huge difference in people’s lives. And it may be less, because the oil companies can always just raise their prices to get more profits during this time as well. In a day when it cost me $65 to fill my tank up, $50 in savings over three months is really not that big of a deal. Okay, yes I have a snowblower. It’s great, relatively new, but here’s the thing. I still have to hope it starts up every winter. I still have to walk back and forth until the sidewalks and driveway are clear. I still have spray the snow a few feet away, and then work my way that way and spray the same snow again. I could just take two sweeps across my front yard and driveway and it’d all be gone. Lickity split, just like that. And the best part, with the spray range it shows in this picture:

I could shoot the snow over my neighbor’s house (he’s a friend of mine) and right smack in the front yard of the guy two houses away (he’s a jerk). Ahhh, the dream snowblower.
